The Kansas Funeral Directors and Embalmers Association (KFDA), through the Kansas Funeral Directors Association Foundation, awards scholarships to qualified students who are enrolled in mortuary science school.
Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the KFDA Education and Scholarship Committee. Scholarships are awarded in the spring and fall. The application deadlines are March 30th and September 30th.
Applicant must be currently enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours in a mortuary science education program at an accredited mortuary science school for the semester for which the scholarship will be applied.
Applicant must have at least one semester, but no more than two semesters, of mortuary science school remaining following the application deadline.
Applicant must be properly registered with the Kansas State Board of Mortuary Arts.
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement, leadership qualities, financial need, and special abilities. Consideration will also be given to whether the applicant intends to practice in Kansas.
The applicant must submit an application including a copy of the applicant’s college transcript, the previous year’s tax return, along with the statement explaining their reasons for seeking financial assistance, why they are interested in the funeral profession as an occupation, and what experience or exposure they have had with the funeral profession. Applications should be typewritten. Letters of Recommendation are encouraged.
